It seems that sleep capsules and sleep boxes are becoming trendy tiny spaces most people would want to have. Russian architectural design firm Arch Group has unveiled their modular Sleepbox 01 as temporary sleeping outposts in airports.
These units are operated like tiny hotel rooms for those who want to take a rest after a very long travel. Their Sleepbox at the Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow has two beds and can be rented for 30 minutes to several hours. Arch Group aims to develop more units as movable rooms for airports, train stations and shopping centers.
The Sleepbox has a base of 2.5 by 1.6 meter and a height of about 2.5-3 meters. It can be installed anywhere and can be set up outside in warmer regions.
Aside from the double bed, the unit has LED reading lamps and electrical sockets for charging laptops and mobile phones. It also has space saving features such as a space for your luggage under the bed and a foldable desk by your bed side. The ventilation allows air to circulate in the space. Windows are equipped with electric-drive blinds for privacy.
With its warm wood veneer, the space is a cozy place to rest and relax while waiting for the flight or transfer. Future units are expected to be made from metal or glass-reinforced plastic. Additional features can be equipped in certain locations.
