Living in the mountains can be exciting when you're on the top of the world. Who doesn't want an uninterrupted 360-degree panoramic view of everything around you. But you may wonder, is it possible to live high above the Alps with virtually no one around you?
Well, the ingenious design by Italian architectural firm LEAPfactory has transformed mobile living into something else. Named New Refuge Gervasutti, this Alpine refuge proves a warm place for mountaineers to sleep and relax after a very long and arduous climb. Interestingly, this modern modular structure has to lifted up into the air by helicopters and precariously placed into the edge of the mountain top.
It is powered by solar panels on its aluminum shell. The people staying there are protected by the elements as it is well insulated like a submarine high up. Although it only has minimal and essential amenities, it has bunk beds and storage closets that occupy the back of the pod thereby giving the host and guests to be totally cozy on a cold winter night. There is a living room with integrated kitchen and dining table located inside the cantilever.
Some people may think that it is like a space capsule with somewhat futuristic functional look including that breathtaking circular glass window that faces the beautiful Alpine scenery.
