Tiny House Conversions: Royal Navy Helicopter

Ever wonder if it's possible to live in a Royal Navy helicopter? Well, Scottish couple Martyn and Louise Steedman have made it possible to live inside a decommissioned Sea King that was converted into a cozy living space for glamping and tiny house enthusiasts. Not only that, it also a unique experience for up to five people with an amazing view of the Carse of Stirling and Fintry Hills. Who does not like to spend at least a night on it?

What makes it incredible is that the Steedmans were lucky to purchase that military helicopter for £7,000 in an auction in the first place. You don't get to see a lot of it on Craigslist or eBay. When they converted it into a viable living accommodation, they took advantage of the unique footprint of the space by including a one-of-a-kind cockpit dining area with a mini kitchen, an en-suite shower room and  of course, the "flight' deck."

Interestingly, they did find the needed helicopter parts in eBay to complete their tiny house conversion. They even restore the correct paint work down to the right decals and signage. In order to properly incorporate the living space inside, they used boat building techniques without compromising comfort and livability. Even though a military helicopter is not designed to be a home, it has a warm and inviting atmosphere that balances both form and function.

Since a metal-clad structure can become too hot or too cold in any season, the interior has wooden paneling with wool insulation to keep you cozy. It has a sun dome and double-glazed doors so that natural light can come in thereby making it look big and airy. The helicopter tiny home also features a double bed, a single bed in the tail, a living area with seating that is convertible into an extra bed, a kitchen, bathroom and private cockpit lounge. There are double doors that will lead you to an outdoor patio where you can relax and enjoy views of the picturesque countryside.
