Coconut Treehouse

When you live in a tropical island, you will see a lot of coconut trees and it is not common to see treehouses build on it. But in the town of Udalo on Mindoro island, there is a pyramid-shaped treehouse built on a coconut tree.

Guests are going to live in a 3,000-sq. m. lot in a small village with a beautiful landscape with clear water rivers, reefs for snorkeling, waterfalls, and much more. The treehouse is located directly on shore near to a village with about 200 inhabitants with a mix of local and foreign expats. It's possible to hire a tour guide, who can show you all the beautiful places of Occidental Mindoro.

Since living away from the city does not include all modern amenities. guests will have access to a shared kitchen with refrigerator, gas stove, toaster, water heater and rice cooker.

If you come with friends, it's also possible to camp on the beach or ask for an extra mattress. They also offer home-cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner while a small convenience store provides necessary things guests need.

If you come from Manila, first take a bus to Batangas Pier (1.5 to 2 hours, P180). From there, you have to take the ferry to Abra de Ilog, which is another 2 hours (up to 3 hours, P170, departure times: 2am, 6am, 10am, 2pm, 6:30pm, 10pm).

When you get off the ferry in Abra de Ilog, you can see small taxi boats (bangkas) at the right side of the pier. A shared bangka is P50 per person. If you choose to take on of those, you might have to wait until there are enough people going to the same destination. The treehouse owner can also arrange to pick you up from Abra de Ilog for P500 to P700 (at night).

The bangka ride takes about 20 minutes. If the waves are too high, the bangkas don't depart, so the only way to get to the place is by walking. In this case, you can get a tricylce from the pier to the small village of Sigman for about P200. Then you have to walk one kilometer on the beach.

If you come from Puerto Galera, take a jeepney or a tricycle to Talipanan beach and walk to the very right side of the beach to the Italian restaurant. From there you can either take one of the bankas there or you can call one of the caretakers and arrange for you to be picked up. They will pick you up for P600.
