Best Ideas to Maximize your Bed Space

Before we talk about saving space in your bedroom, do we know who Murphy is? He's not Alex Murphy a.k.a. Robocop but the inventor William Lawrence Murphy - the man who inadvertently made this revolutionary space-saving bed when he was wooing an opera singer in 1900. At that time, conservative society frowned upon men who bring women, who are not their wives, to their bedroom. Murphy converted his bedroom into a parlor by hiding his bed into the wall since he was living in cramped conditions at San Francisco apartment.

Also called a wall bed, pull down bed or fold-down bed, the Murphy bed is hinged at one end to store vertically against the wall, or inside of a closet or cabinet. Nowadays, there are different variations of this bed that meet your design specifications and need.

1. Home Office Bed
If you are a freelance professional who works at home, you will probably need a home office where you can do your work efficiently but you also need a bed when you're tired after a day's work. Why not combined the two and have both in one room with having to squeeze yourself in?

2. Book Case Bed
If you have a small library in your home or just a reading area with book case full of books and magazines, why not squeeze in a bed on it. You have to understand that you don't spend the whole day reading books and having a library inside your tiny home will just be a dead, unused space.

Can you compress a bed into a small end table? Yes you can! This small compact bed is a space saver as you can hide the various parts and components so that you store it in the corner when you're not using it.

6. Couch Murphy Bed
Are you a couch potato and you need a bed for you to sleep on? Why not have this bed, you can just fold the bed part as it seamlessly goes on top of the couch so you can sleep comfortably.

  2. I think a lot of tiny homes make use of ideas like this to maximise the space in their homes. Besides ensuring that their beds double up as storage, a lot of the beds flip up into the wall just like these do! But that flippable bunk bed, that's something really revolutionary! I've never seen anything like it before!
